Baggage information

Carry-on baggage means such hand-carry baggage, personal item, special item, and cabin baggage as a passenger may carry into the cabin.
The Company has set up the following baggage regulations in accordance with Article 48 of the Aircraft Flight Operation Regulations.
To ensure flight safety, carry-on baggage should comply with the carry-on baggage dimensions and weight limit. It must be stowed by yourself in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you, to prevent them from sliding or falling off. In addition, the baggage must not obstruct access to emergency equipment or impede the emergency evacuation of the aircraft.
If the weight or size of passenger′s baggage exceeds what is stipulated below, passenger may choose to give up baggage, pay an additional checked baggage fee or leave the plane with passenger′s baggage to board the next flight. Thanks for the understanding.

•Carry-on baggage
1. To offer passengers comfortable space during the flight, each passenger is only allowed to bring one piece of carry-on baggage on board. The baggage weight shall not exceed 7 kg and its dimensions shall be limited to L: 56cm x W: 36cm x H: 23cm.
2. To ensure flight safety, passengers are to safely stow their carry-on baggage under the seat or in the overhead baggage compartment to prevent them from sliding or falling off. In addition, the baggage must not obstruct access to emergency equipment or impede the emergency evacuation of the aircraft.
3. Carriage of restricted items by passengers at the customs may result in delayed delivery of the items, inspection and confiscation, or items being handed over to the security unit for further action. UNI AIR shall not be liable for compensation for such items.
4. Prohibited items for carry-on baggage, please refer to "Dangerous Goods and Prohibited Goods".

•Personal items
1. Categories and restrictions for small items that are necessary for use during flight but are not placed inside the passenger's carry-on baggage are as follows:
(1) In addition to the hand-carry baggage, each passenger may carry, without additional charge (subject to local country specific restrictions, if any), ONE of the following free carry-on items or an item of similar size:
A laptop computer or A purse or A small backpack or A briefcase or A camera case
(2) The maximum combined linear measurement (length x height x width) of carry-on items must not exceed 40 x 30 x 10 cm (16 x 12 x 4 in) or 80 cm (32 in). These dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets. If passenger's item exceeds the total dimension of 80 cm (32 in), it will be counted as part of standard carry-on baggage allowance. Ground staff should require the passenger to check in either the carry-on bag or the carry-on item.
(3) The following items are not counted toward carry-on baggage allowance and one personal item limit:
Reasonable quantity of outer garment (coat, hat, scarf, etc.), rain gear (umbrella, raincoat), reading material, food, drink, camera or small binoculars and other personal belongings. A limited amount of duty-free merchandise.
2. Personal items may be stored inside seat pockets, but must not obstruct the passage for emergency evacuation.

•Checked baggage
1. Please pack your baggage into a suitable and sturdy suitcase, and make sure that the suitcase or its contents will not get damaged during normal transport. As for baggage packed in a carton or shopping bag, passengers shall assume the risk of loss and damage.
Checked baggage receipt should be kept in good condition, and claim baggage by the receipt upon arrival.
2. Baggage containing perishable stuff (e.g. seafood, etc.), ice/frozen product or water, liquid gelatinous material or fragile items should be properly packed and unopened. It may not be ship when packing under requirement.
3. When the weight of a single piece of checked baggage exceeds 30 kg, it shall be tagged "overweight". Passengers are advised to keep their single piece of baggage within 23 kg. Baggage that cannot be divided and repacked, and that weighs between 30 to 45 kg, shall be accepted after approval by UNI AIR. However, a single piece of baggage that cannot be divided and repacked, and that exceeds 45 kg shall, in principle, will be rejected by the Company. The size of each piece of baggage must not exceed 277 cm (length + width + height), and the width and height limits shall vary according to different aircraft models, with the restrictions as follows:
ATR 72-600 W:138 cm H:157 cm
A321 W:202 cm H:185 cm
4. For passengers travelling with bicycles or other sports equipment, the acceptable size of these items and relevant charges shall follow the regulations of checked baggage in the preceding paragraphs.
Due to capacity limitation of cargo bay, the maximum acceptable quantity of bicycle/Surfboard Equipment / Windsurfing Equipment for each flight is 10 pieces totally . When making reservation, please inform the reservation staff of the weight and size to confirm the arrangement.

To reduce the risk of damage the bicycle should be packed properly with flat tire and transported in a sealed box. Please make sure that handle rotated to 90 degrees and tighten, remove or turn the pedals inside, before check-in.

Surfboard Equipment / Windsurfing Equipment must be padded and enclosed in a suitable package sufficient to protect from scratches or dents or other damage during normal handling. And the height of each piece of package must not exceed 190 cm. Windsurfing Equipment including one board and one mast, wooden boom and sail. Surfboards are allowed up to two (2) boards per bag.
5. Free checked baggage allowance:
According to the "Standard Contract for Passengers Transit in Domestic Flight", the free checked baggage allowance for each economy class passenger is 10 kg. An excess baggage fee shall be charged according to the cargo rate per kilogram adopted by the respective routes. Please click here.
There's no free carry-on or checked baggage allowance for special extra seats request. The passenger's free baggage allowance will remain unchanged.
The free allowances of checked baggage for those passenger who connect international and domestic flights:
In order to promote overseas tourists to extend their journeys to the Company's domestic flights and to provide service consistency, when passengers taking UNI/EVA international flights transfer to/from the domestic flights of the Company, the free checked baggage weight allowances shall be as follows:
A. Joint tickets:
Passengers connecting EVA/UNI international and domestic flights, all sectors at the same booking reference numbers (as same tickets number), the free checked baggage allowance shall follow international flights ticket shown.
Passengers taking non EVA/UNI international flight, transferring to UNI AIR domestic line, if not stopping in the middle of the journey (refer to the transfer within 24 hours), the free checked baggage allowance for domestic line will be directly compared with the international line. If the conditions are not met, the free checked baggage allowance for the domestic section will be handled in accordance with the company's baggage regulations.
B. Non-joint tickets: (The international and the domestic sectors at different booking reference numbers) Passengers taking EVA/UNI international and domestic flights within 7 days.

Business/Premium Laurel/Royal Laurel class:each baggage shall not exceed 32 kg(70 lb).
Premium Economy Class:each baggage shall not exceed 28 kg(62 lb).
Economy class:each baggage shall not exceed 23 kg(50 lb).
Infant not entitled to a seat (All classes):each piece with same weight of baggage allowance in an adult traveling class.
Weight System:
In accordance with the free checked baggage weight allowance reflected on the ticket of the international flight.
Taking flights which is not mention above No extral offer. According to the UNI AIR free checked baggage allowance of domestic line. Excess weight is charged according to the excess weight fee.

1. This promotion is limited to checked baggage. The size and weight of your carry-on baggage shall still be subject to the Company's regulations.
2. If the aforementioned baggage exceeds the free checked baggage allowance, an excess baggage fee shall be charged according to the baggage exceeds rate.
3. Passengers shall present the boarding pass, the original ticket, a copy of the ticket or other supporting documents for the international flight segment in question at the counter to qualify for the promotion.

•Traveling with pets
1. Acceptance of Animals as Baggage:
Only cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, frogs and insects are accepted for carriage. The animals must be healthy, harmless, clean and odorless.
Restriction of carriage for cats, dogs, rabbits:
One container can carry only one pet.
2. Animals not accepted:
Females may not be pregnant; animals younger than 10 weeks may not be accepted for carriage (cats, dogs, rabbits).
Poisonous animals; Offensive animals announced by Council of Agriculture;
Rats, fish, snakes, birds; Protected Animals.
Animals being anxious or barking constantly.
3. Pets shall not be accepted as checked baggage in A321 aircrafts.
"UNI Sea-Air Services" do not accept pets as checked baggage, neither.
4. Quarantine Regulations:
All pets shall be transported as checked baggage or as cargo. Some regions have special regulations for the import/export and quarantine of pets. Passengers must clearly understand these regulations before departure.
Dogs and cats entering and leaving Kinmen and Matsu must include:
a. Application form (filled out at the quarantine stations in Kinmen and Matsu)
b. Registration card and microchip insertion
c. Dogs and cats over three months old: certification documents for the rabies vaccination (must be vaccinated for over 7 days and within 1 year).
Effective from 26/JAN/2017, dogs and cats entering and leaving Penghu waive the above procedures.

5. Container regulation:
Pets can be accepted for carriage by air only if they are being transported in safe, clean and solid containers that must be:
A. Container for cats, dogs, rabbits,
a. Accord with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations, container with single door is designed for air transportation and is made of constructed plastic material. Its lock should prevent from animal escaping. Ensure that the animal is claw-proof without risk of it injuring or causing discomfort to personnel responsible for its safe transit.

b. Have functioning ventilation openings on 3 sideways but not directly on the handle of it. Easily recognizable as an animal container. Have moisture-absorbing material covering the bottom or floor.
c. Combination container (fixed with rotating screw or simple button combination) or Pet suitcase are forbidden.
d. Each animal container must have enough space for pets to turn around, stand, sit and to lie in comfortably.
Height D: Height of the animal in standing position, without touching the roof of the cage.
Length A: From nose to root of the tail, plus half height from ground to elbow-joint.
Width C: Twice that of the animal across the shoulder blades.
B. Small pets such as turtles, frogs, and insects need to be placed in a dry and sturdy container (such as a dedicated terrarium).
C. The size of the pet container or cage must be within length 80 cm x width 60 cm x height 80 cm.
The weight (inclusive of the cage) of a single pet case is no more than 45 kg.
Due to the capacity of cargo compartment, UNI AIR reserves the right to deny traveling with pets to passengers.
D. NO food or water receptacles can be placed in the pet cage, nor attached to outside of the cage.
E. Pets are advised to be accompanied by stress-relieving toy during the journey.
6. Charge:
The weight of your pet and its shipping container shall be charged as excess baggage. A total weight of less than 10 kg shall be charged as 10 kg, whereas a total weight that exceeds 10 kg shall be charged according to the actual weight.
7. We are not responsible for injury to or escape, sickness or death caused by animals' healthiness, self-factors or bad package of an animal which we have agreed to carry.
8. Passengers who need to travel with pets may put in a request with the customer service center in advance to make the necessary arrangements.

•Special items
1. Some special items are not suitable as check-in baggage due to its nature and requested permission to carry in the cabin. Such baggage should be stored at the closed overhead bin or under the seat.
Large items, valuables, fragile items, statues of gods, cremation urns, etc.;
Musical instruments.;
Walking stick/ Wheelchair/ crutches/ braces/ prosthetic device/any assistive device, this is needed by disabled passengers.;
Medicine/medical equipment or supplies, including transplanted organs.;
Car seat (Every child is only allowed one piece of cabin-seat baggage).;
2. If it cannot be placed the locations as mentioned, it will be treated as cabin baggage and charged for an extra seat.
3. If the size and weight of the statue of god/ cremation urn are within the limits for carry-on baggage, there is no need to purchase an extra seat. Due to safety reasons, they must be stowed under the seat or in the cabin baggage compartment. Holding the item on the body is forbidden. If the passenger is unwilling, they will have to buy an extra seat to place the item, which shall be handled as a CBBG.
4. Foldable baby strollers can be stowed in the baggage compartment or the closet (certain aircraft do not offer such service). If there is not enough space in the cabin to stow the baby stroller, UNI AIR's ground staff will arrange to have it placed in the cargo hold as checked baggage.
5. Car seats used in-flight shall not be deemed as carry-on baggage; car seats that are not used in-flight shall be handled as carry-on baggage or checked baggage.
6. To maintain UNI AIR's service quality, passengers are prohibited from bringing on board or checking-in items with a strong smell, such as durians. For flight safety, passengers are also not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages that they have brought on board themselves.

•Cabin baggage (CBBG)
Any unchecked items occupying extra seats are charged and considered as Cabin Baggage (CBBG), such as an urn, Buddhist Statue carved statue, musical instruments, or other fragile/valuable items. If you would like to purchase an extra seat for CBBG, please contact our customer service center to provide the type/dimension/weight (after fully packing and the box cannot be fragile) before your flight departs.
To properly secure your cabin baggage, the following regulations are applied:
  • Must have strong packing (e.g. suitcase) on each side or be packed into a secure and strong box (with handle(s) is recommended for seat belts easily fastened) if CBBG is non-square shape such as Buddhist Statue. Please note the accessories (including headwear etc.) of Buddhist Statue must be enclosed in a strong box and cannot be revealed outside the box. This ensures passengers' safety to avoid any harm from any loose of accessories (including headwear etc.) on the Buddhist Statue during taxi, takeoff, landing or flight turbulence occurs.
  • Must not exceed 70 kg/154 lb per seat and the dimension (after proper packing) has to complied with all requirements. The size limitations are as follows:
  • 1. For CBBG that are long and thin in shape and that must be placed on the floor, the acceptable length/width/height for items that are placed in an inclining position from the floor to the height of the back of the seat are as follows:
    ATR 72-600 : 42×20×143 cm
    A321 economy class : 48×40×114 cm (row 20) ; 48×22×114 cm (row 36 and row 50)
    When the height of the item exceeds the back of the seat, it can only be placed at the last row. However, the height must not exceed the lower rim of the suitcase.
    2. For CBBG that is placed on the seat, the acceptable length/width/height (seat's width x seat's depth x seat's height) are as follows:
    ATR 72-600 : 42×41×66 cm
    A321 economy class : 66×43×73 cm
    When the restriction on the removal of seat cushions is lifted to install or fix the CBBG in place due to operational requirements, the acceptable height increases to 75 cm.
    3. Accepted dimensions of the aluminum box provided by our company 36×34×60CM.
  • For those who need to purchase CBBG tickets, please make your booking by 17:00 on the day before your flight. For passengers flying on aircraft model A321, please submit your CBBG request to reservation office at least 48 hours before the flight departure; otherwise, the request shall not be accepted.
  • Passenger's free checked baggage allowance will not be increased when using this facility.
  • Must be assigned an extra seat in the first row behind the partition or last row in front of partition by our customer service center.
  • Must be secured in a seat adjacent or nearby to the passenger and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Must not change seats for both passenger and baggage during the flight.
  • Must not obscure any customer's view of "seatbelt," "no smoking" or "exit" sign.
  • Must not contain dangerous goods or other prohibited items.
  • Must not endanger the aircraft, persons or property onboard the aircraft.
  • Must identify yourself at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time for CBBG handling procedure.
Cabin baggage is the item(s) that you carry with you into the aircraft cabin and are kept under your custody during flight. We assists in securing the item but is not liable for any damage or loss of this cabin baggage unless such damage or loss is caused by our negligence. If CBBG has no proper packing, not in accordance with related regulation, or passengers disagreeing with the handling of baggage, the baggage will not be accepted as CBBG for safety reason. Our ground staff is entitled to accept as checked baggage or refuse such items onboard.

•Dangerous Goods and Prohibited Goods
1. Items belonging to the nine major categories defined as dangerous goods by the latest version of the Dangerous Goods Regulations issued by the International Air Transport Association -IATA.
Class 1 Explosives
e.g. munitions, ammunitions, fireworks, firecrackers, flares, etc.
Class 2 Gases(flammable gases, non-flammable and non-toxic gases, toxic gases)
e.g. camping gas (gas cartridges), combustible gas, liquid gas, industrial-use refrigerant, etc.
Class 3 Flammable liquids
e.g. lighter fluid, kerosene for lamps, oil for burning, paint, diluted solvents, gasoline with high volatility and low ignition point, and liquid oxygen medical devices.
Class 4 Flammable solids (combustible solids, substances liable to spontaneous combustion and ‘Dangerous When Wet' substances)
e.g. oxidizing substances liable to spontaneous combustion (survival matches), highly flammable substances (yellow phosphorus) and substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases (sodium metal), etc.
Class 5 Oxidizing substances such as oxidizers and peroxides.
e.g. bleaching agents, hydrogen peroxide, etc.
Class 6 Poisons and infectious substances
e.g. arsenic, weed-killers, insecticides and hantaan virus, etc.
Class 7 Radioactive materials
Substances and nuclides which can spontaneously and continuously emit ionizing radiation that presents potentially severe risks to human health, e.g. uranium 235, uranium 238, etc.
Class 8 Corrosives
e.g. acids, alkalis, mercury and mercury-containing devices and wet-cell batteries.
Class 9 Other dangerous articles
e.g. magnetized items; items that can generate a magnetic field and for which, after packaging, the magnetic field intensity is not lower than 0.159A/M (0.002Gs) at a distance of 2.1 meters.
2. Only those who meet the following terms are allowed to carry the goods onto the aircraft on their persons, in their carry-on baggage or checked baggage, Please refer to the attachment.
3. Restricted Items: Due to flight safety concerns, restricted items cannot be carried into airplane cabins or put in carry-on baggage but may be carried as checked baggage, Please refer to the attachment.
4. Regarding Portable Electronic Devices (PED) (Including Medical Devices) containing lithium batteries and spare batteries, please note the following regulations:
(1) Not required to obtain UNI Air's approval. Portable Electronic Devices: e.g., Watch, Calculator, Camera, Cellular Phone, Laptop, Video, etc.
If devices are carried in checked baggage, measures must be taken to prevent unintentional activation and to protect from damage, and the device must be completely switched off (not in sleep or hibernation mode)
(2) Any lithium-ion battery that is over 160Wh is prohibited aboard the plane. The following devices contains lithium-ion batteries. Each of the lithium batteries must pass every test requirement stipulated in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, section 38.3.
Wheelchairs/Mobility Aids with Lithium, Security-Type Equipment, and Portable Medical Electronic Devices.
(3) Limitation for Spare Batteries and Portable Battery Supply Device (Power Bank) :
Each person is limited to a maximum of 20 spare batteries. If the power bank itself does not list specification, it will not be allowed for carriage. Pack Individually: The battery terminals are protected from short circuits, e.g. by placing each battery in its own protective case, by taping over exposed terminals or by placing in plastic bag.
(4) If a product that is dangerous goods or that contains a dangerous goods component (e.g., battery) is subject to a safety recall by manufacturer/vendor, it must not be carried aboard an aircraft or in check-in baggage unless the recalled product/component has been replaced or repaired or otherwise made safe per manufacturer/vendor instructions.
(5) The portable hand-held fan (installed with lithium-ion battery) is forbidden in the checked baggage but carried in carry-on baggage or on one's person only.
(6) Portable Electronic Devices (PED) (Including Medical Devices) Containing Batteries meet the following table:

Note: Each person is limited to a maximum of 15 PED (Including Medical Devices). Each person is limited to a maximum of 20 spare batteries (Including Medical Devices).
5. Smart Baggage with Integrated Lithium Batteries and/or Electronics: Lithium-ion battery powered baggage which is so-called "Smart Baggage" are the devices include integrated lithium batteries, motors, power banks, GPS, GSM, Bluetooth, RFID or Wi-Fi technology. If you will travel with the smart baggage, please follow the regulations below:
Smart baggage with a lithium battery watt hour longer than 160 Wh is forbidden for carriage.
With a lithium metal content no more than 0.3 g or a Watt-hour rating no more than 2.7 Wh:
A. It is not necessary to remove the lithium battery from the smart baggage, and it can be hand-held or checked (e.g. dry battery, button cell battery).
B. The baggage must meet carry-on baggage regulations.
C. All transmitting functions must comply with "Regulations Governing the Use of Electronic Devices" in inflight magazine.
With a lithium metal content exceeding 0.3 g or a Watt-hour rating exceeding 2.7 Wh:
A. Baggage where the lithium battery can be removed.
(A) Carry-on Baggage:
a. It can be hand-carried without removing the lithium battery from the smart baggage.
b. The baggage must meet carry-on baggage regulations.
c. All transmitting functions must comply with "Regulations Governing the Use of Electronic Devices" in inflight magazine.
(B) Checked Baggage: Lithium-ion battery must be removed from smart baggage and bring it into the cabin. Then the baggage can be accepted as checked baggage.
B. Baggage where the lithium battery cannot be removed: Not permitted for carriage (e.g. rechargeable lithium batteries, power banks).
6. UNI AIR's passengers are prohibited :
(1) Bringing on board or checking-in machinery oils, such as engine oil, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil and brake fluid.
(2) Survival paracord bracelets.
(3) Self-heating meal (including flammable solids, e.g. quicklime, oxocalcium).
(4) Electric bicycles/Children ride-on cars containing spillable or non-spillable batteries are unacceptable.
(5) Small vehicles powered by lithium-ion batteries such as Airwheel, Solowheel, Hoverboard, Mini-segway, Balance wheel. Because of the potential fire danger from the lithium-ion batteries that power the devices, UNI AIR bans these items in checked or carry-on baggage.
(6) Products contain Lead-acid Batteries - We strongly recommend that passengers do not carry or check-in any item or product power by lead-acid battery as there will be a high possibility that it will be rejected during security inspection at the airport (e.g. LED, flashlight and electronic mosquito zapper with rechargeable lead-acid battery). To carry any medical devices or mobility aids (e.g. electric wheelchair) with lead-acid battery please contact UNI Air reservation for approval.
You may also refer to the relevant regulations that the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications published in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

•Precautions for the passengers carrying valuables
The Company and the ground handling agent companies shall make reasonably best effort to properly handle passengers' checked baggage. However, the risk of loss and damage to the baggage sometimes cannot be completely avoided. Moreover, according to international rules, the Company is not liable for compensation for any loss of the valuables inside the checked baggage. As such, passengers are strongly advised to bring valuables on board instead of packing them in the checked baggage. If the carry-on baggage exceeds the size and weight restrictions stipulated by the Company and has to be checked in instead, passengers are reminded: in accordance with international practice, that compensation for baggage loss or damage is calculated according to the weight of the baggage. To prevent the compensation of lost or damaged valuables to be processed as per that for normal baggage, resulting in a greater loss for passengers, passengers are advised to consult an insurance company to purchase insurance for their valuables in advance.

•Delayed / Damaged Baggage
1. Claims
If passengers discover that the baggage is lost, delayed or damaged, please inform the UNI AIR's service personnel before leaving the airport, and submit the baggage receipt issued by UNI AIR and relevant supporting documents.
2. Baggage delay
In the event passenger's checked baggage do not arrive on the flight, reasonable measures will be made to ensure the bag is returned to the passenger within 24 hours after the passenger has arrived at the final destination. Most of the baggage will be delivered by the next flight. In a reasonable situation, we will send the baggage to the passenger for free within 24 hours after arriving at the airport or, passengers may pick up at the airport in person. If it is more than 24 hours, we will contact the passenger on our own initiative.
3. Baggage damage
We will handle all baggage with great care. However, please be aware that UNI AIR cannot be held liable for any damage on fragile items such as musical instruments, sporting equipments, cameras, precision instruments, works of art, antiques, ceramics, glassware, and alcohol or electronic devices such as personal computers. Besides, if the damage results from an inherent defect or characteristic of the item, UNI will not be held liable, either.
UNI is not liable for the following situations:
(1) Minor damage such as scratches/scuffs/dents/cuts/dirt caused by the material of casing.
(2) Damage and wheel wear caused by aging.
(3) Damage of protruding accessories such as detachable wheels/straps/hooks/name tags/belts.
If there is any damage to baggage, we will assess the damage and notify the passenger if the baggage can be repaired.
4. Compensation standards
For damages and missing of the baggage of the passengers, UNI AIR should undertake corresponding compensation liabilities.
The compensation standards are as follows :
Carry-on baggage: the actual damages will be calculated, with compensation amount for each passenger not exceeding 20 thousand NT$.
Check-in baggage: the actual damages will be calculated, with compensation amount per kilogram not exceeding one thousand NT$.
